River Valley Real Estate$entrytitle
Local magazine project

River Valley Real Estate & Home is a magazine owned by my employer and is published once per month.

My involvement with the project was to create the logo, the cover, and the editorial page design.

| Cover Design | Page Design |

The logo that was used was a nice seriffed font called Arno Pro. I didn't like much at first but once I saw it in print, I absolutely fell in love with it. I did some manual kerning between the letters unify the words. The sub-title is in a condensed variation of a sans-serif called Poynter Agate One.

The cover changes from month-to-month with a new cover shot and new story teases. Color selection and teaser location depends on the cover photo selection.

Editorial page design was a tedious job. I work with a bunch of newspaper people who have trouble realizing how precise and clear magazines are. Virtually no dot gain, registration is dead on, etc. These are still issues in their minds.

The biggest problem I had was deciding on the body copy font. I couldn't find one I liked. We eventually settled on a variation of Franklin Gothic. The headline is not Arno Pro as expected. I actually opted for a simple Garamond. It was easier to read and visually flowed better with the page.

The other fonts (photo creds, sub-heads, etc) are all condensed versions of Poynter Agate One.
Color selections here are based on the photos and artwork that go with the story. I do not paginate this magazine. That job is left to someone that is much better at it than I am.

The first one will always be my favorite...just like children (Just kidding, just kidding!)
