The New Job!
I think I'm going to be injured if I don't give an update on everything going on in our lives right now.
It's been exactly one week since my last day at the newspaper and I've got one week of the new job under my belt. Honestly, it was a slow start. I feel pretty small compared to the other 3 developers. Monday and Tuesday were really slow. I've got a LONG way to go to catch up on a few frameworks they use like jQuery and CakePHP. Wednesday thru Friday have been great. I've been breaking out websites (which is when we take our Photoshop image and turn it into code suitable for a website). I did 3 this week along with a few other small projects.
So, what do I think? It's certainly not as laid back as the paper but like I always said, pay me what I'm worth and I'll gladly take the work. My co-workers are cool. Not totally awkward, nerdy, or creepy like so many of us can be. The main programming dude is a really incredible programmer. He'll be asked to make some off-the-wall script and he'll be like "10 minutes". That's when he slaps his hands down on the keyboard and the script magically appears all at one time. Ok, so maybe not quite that dramatic but that's how it looked to me standing behind him.
My bosses are both cool. Even if I thought otherwise, I wouldn't post it :) But they really are cool. Damon and Chris, glad to be part of the team. Thanks for the opportunity.
I'm having lots of fun and my mind is finally stretching out again. I think it's called learning...or growth...or that could just be my stomach.
So, if you are looking to get a website built, give us a shout and tell 'em I sent ya.
Brookside Studios.
If you own a PC, you might as well bookmark this site while you're at it. You know you'll have to call them eventually. Geek Rescue is here.

For those who didn't know, Heather got her job at St. Francis. She starts her job on Monday. I think it'll be cool to see how she enjoys living in that area rather than what she's been used to for most of her life.
She is such a great girl. She's such an inspiration and I'm so lucky to have her.

We haven't found a house we like yet but I think we're getting close. We're going to check out some more homes this week. I can't wait until we can get a new home! Oh, and if you're looking for a house in the Fort Smith area, give us a call. We're trying to sell our very beautiful house quickly!

Sounds good so far......Oh! Did I say I was going to injure you????? :) Anyway, your job sounds really interesting. You'll be programming with the best of them before too long! Be sure and have Heather keep us posted on her new job, too. Am looking forward to hearing about that, too. And, of course, the house hunting. Give the boys our love, too!
