Mount Magazine Campout
Over the weekend our troop had our first cold weather campout at the top of Mount Magazine in Arkansas. I think it's safe to say that we all hoped we would get a normal Arkansas December night; you know, the ones that stay around 60 degrees.

At 10:30, I checked the temperature on my iPhone and it was 25 degrees! I slept very well and woke up about 6:30am because of the rain. I got up and started the fire. Once everyone else got up, I had them cook breakfast. I was so surprised to hear that many of them had never had eggs cooked in bacon grease. What is the world coming to?!

It rained all morning and the clouds came and went thru out the morning. We decided to go ahead with the hike to the summit. It was a short hike to the top from our camp site. Only about 1/2 of a mile. We took some pics at the top and headed back down since it was so cloudy. There really wasn't much to see. We packed up and stopped at the visitors center on the way out. I bought some rock candy for Blake and Nathan and some Honey Apple Butter for me and Heather, and a little foot scraper thing for Heather. She didn't think it was as funny as I did.

All-in-all, I'm surprised it went as well as it did. I was proud the boys toughed it out when they could've made excuses not to be there.

I had a great time!

snakes and bear tracks....hmmmm. I'm surprised too about the boys not having eggs cooked in bacon grease before. I thought that was a southern thing! They sure have been missing out!
