Our 6th Wedding Anniversary

Saturday was mine and Heather's 6-year anniversary. So crazy how fast time flies by. Last year, we were busy dealing with our new house to really get the chance to celebrate so this year we made up for it.

For our dinner, we went to The Melting Pot. It's basically a fancy fondue shop and they cook it all in front of you. First course was a simple mexican fondue with chorizo sausage. Second course was a Shrimp Ceviche and salad. Our main course was really good. It was potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli all cooking in a really tasty broth. The meat was chicken, pork, shrimp, steak, and lobster. You would put your meat in the broth and let it cook. Now, overall, I thought it was way overpriced but the lobster was amazing and it was a different dining experience than what we normally have the opportunity to do and we had a good time.

After dinner, we wandered out back to Riverwalk Crossing and listened to some smooth jazz before heading to our hotel.

We stayed at The Mayo in downtown Tulsa. What an absolutely amazing place! It was built in 1905 and was the epitome of luxury for celebrities to come and partake of. Today is no different. Walking through the front door and seeing the expansive glamorous lobby before us immediately hooked us. The mix of original decor and modern restyling was done beautifully. "Wooow" was the only thing we could say. I never knew Tulsa had places like this.

We checked in and headed to the 5th floor to our room. We stayed in a Superior Suite which is basically an apartment. It had a living area, bedroom, bath and shower. Maybe stupid to some but it even had an iPhone docking station.

There were flat screens in the living room AND bedroom. They provided us with The Velvet Devil but since we don't drink, we substituted it with sparkling grape juice. Haha.

The hotel also had a musuem with all kinds of signed celebrity memerabilia, sketches and drawings of the hotel while it was still in concept, newspapers from the hotels birth date.

The next morning, we packed our stuff and headed down to the restaurant in the hotel, Trula. I got my favorite breakfast item, biscuits and gravy and homestyle potatoes. Heather got the "Farmers Breakfast". Both were very tasty. We then drove around downtown and snapped some pictures of the buildings downtown and the awesome art deco designs they held.

Afterward, we headed to Brookside to find Heather a new purse. Luckily, not one single boutique was open. Not one. So still full from breakfast, we went to Wolfgang Puck's Bistro. Heather got a cup of Butternut Squash soup and I got Eggs Benedict with Prosciutto on top. Heather was blown away by her soup. My dish tasted great as well. Probably would've been better if I would've been hungrier.

So, no purse from Brookside so you know who's always open? JCPenny's. We (yes, "we") found a nice purse and wallet for her. We stopped by Fossil so I could get a new wallet as well. We also dropped in the Apple store. No trip to the mall is complete without stopping by my own little personal heaven for a few minutes. I got a new screen protector and the Magic Trackpad. I gotta tell you, I wasn't sold on the trackpad at first but once I learned about some extra gestures you can make on it, I totally get it. It's a total mouse replacement.

Anyways, we called it a day and headed home. We had a fantastic time together. I wish we had a babysitter so we could do it more often, but it was great while it lasted.

Happy Anniversary, babe.
